Rivers leads San Diego past Chiefs 22-21

San Diego Chargers offensive guard Kris Dielman (68) is escorted off the field after being ejected in the first half of their NFL football game against the Kansas City Chiefs in Kansas City, MO., Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008.

The NFL's highest-rated passer would not be stopped. Philip Rivers rallied San Diego from a 21-3 third-quarter deficit, throwing two touchdown passes in the final 73 seconds, and the Chargers stunned Kansas City 22-21 on Sunday. The Chiefs, aided by a delay of game penalty against the Chargers, tried a 50-yard field goal on the final play, but Connor Barth's kick was wide left.

LB Mitchell sparks Bills win over Chargers

San Diego Chargers' Malcom Floyd (80) makes a touchdown catch under pressure from Buffalo Bills' Leodis McKelvin (28) during the first half of the NFL football game at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y., Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008.

After the power went out at Ralph Wilson Stadium, Trent Edwards and Kawika Mitchell provided all the electricity the Buffalo Bills needed against the San Diego Chargers. Edwards went 25-of-30 for 261 yards and a touchdown, and Mitchell intercepted a pass from Philip Rivers at the goal line to thwart a potential go-ahead score midway through the fourth quarter to secure a 23-14 win Sunday.

Chargers rally to 28-18 win over Raiders

San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers (17) speaks with head coach Norv Turner during the second half of a football game against the Oakland Raiders, Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, in Oakland, Calif.

For three quarters, the Oakland Raiders stopped LaDainian Tomlinson and appeared poised to stop a long losing streak to the San Diego Chargers. Then Tomlinson got loose, the Chargers pressured JaMarcus Russell and the longest winning streak any team has held against the Raiders grew to 10 games. Darren Sproles' long kickoff return set up Nate Kaeding's go-ahead 47-yard field goal with 1:51 to play...

Bolts leave no doubt with 48-29 win over Jets

San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson (21) tries to break the tackle of New York Jets' David Harris on a 4-yard run during the second quarter of an NFL football game Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, in San Diego.

Philip Rivers, LaDainian Tomlinson and the rest of the San Diego Chargers simply left no doubt. Frustrated by two gut-wrenching losses, the Chargers raced past nemesis Brett Favre and the New York Jets for a 48-29 victory Monday night in a wild game befitting two original AFL teams. Rivers threw three touchdown passes, Tomlinson scored his first two TDs of the season and San Diego finally got back...

Can the Broncos make the Chargers eat their words?
The Denver Broncos are determined to keep LaDainian Tomlinson from running the ball down their throats again, Philip Rivers from running his mouth anew, and the San Diego Chargers from running up the score like they did last year. The Broncos were bothered more by the smackdowns than all the trash talk when the Chargers walloped them by a combined 64-6 in 2007.

Cowboys 17, Chargers 31

San Diego Chargers head coach Norv Turner talks with Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, right, before the Chargers pre-season NFL football game against the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, in San Diego.

If first impressions are any indication, the San Diego Chargers should be pleased with rookie Jacob Hester. The rookie running back scored on a pair of short runs to help the Chargers to a 31-17 preseason win over the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday night. Hester, the club's third-round draft pick from LSU, is competing with Darren Sproles to replace Michael Turner as back up to two-time defending NFL...

Chargers | Jackson having strong camp
Casey Pearce, of Chargers.com, reports San Diego Chargers WR Vincent Jackson has caught everything thrown his way and made big plays during the first week of training camp. Jackson credits growing chemistry with QB Philip Rivers and a strong offseason. He said he feels he and Rivers are on the same page. Jackson came alive late last season in the playoffs, as he had a run of three-straight 90-yard games, including his first career 100-yard performance. During the team's three playoff games, Jackson caught 18 passes, which topped his previous three-game high of 11 receptions.

Chargers vow not to look ahead this season

San Diego Chargers general manager A.J. Smith stands below a helmet logo while observing activities during the first day of the NFL football team's training camp Friday, July 25, 2008, in San Diego.

The San Diego Chargers seem to have learned the difference between hype and reality. Even if they are good enough to get to the Super Bowl, they vow not to talk about it this summer. "There was so much hype last year, and so much expectation, and all training camp it was 'Super Bowl,' and we weren't afraid to talk about it," quarterback Philip Rivers said Friday after the Chargers held their first...
