Prepare with Mock Drafts

Perform Mock Drafts with your friends & colleagues to find out how the
top five rounds (60 players) are going to shape up. The more Drafts you perform,
the more insight you will have going into the deeper parts of Drafts (mid-late
rounds). This is absolutely CRUCIAL, and where the importance of analyzing Mock
Drafts comes into play. That is their purpose- for you to see where certain
players are being taken, so you don’t reach or hold off too long on players
that you are targeting.

Watch How the Preseason Develops

You must keep a close eye on the Preseason games to look for players that have
developed and come out of nowhere, or players that are coming off of injuries
and are supposed to be 100% once again.

Most importantly, this is the time to watch the younger players and rookies
to see if they are worth grabbing. They are usually the players that are showcased
during the Preseason, because they must prove themselves to crack the Regular
Season lineup. The idea is to have specific players in mind that you want to
have on your team beforehand- that way you can pay special attention to them
from the get-go. This theory works for both the early and late rounds of the
Draft.

Cheat with Cheat Sheets

Lastly, rank each position from top-to-bottom by making a list of your top
QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs, Ks, D/STs all on one sheet (aka Cheat Sheet). Remember to
use this in conjunction with the stats from the previous seasons (we recommend
the last 3 years). All these materials are part of our Draft Central.

Cheat Sheets are not supposed to be etched in stone. The key is to
understand the dynamics of the rankings you are using, because the Draft will
almost certainly throw a couple of curves at you, and the better you adjust
on the fly with your Cheat Sheet, the more likely you will end up drafting a
roster full of quality players- giving you solid depth.

Two little-known players brought an abrupt end to a day of confusion, comebacks and clutch performances in the desert. Bills lose Edwards, first game of season to Cardinals
The Buffalo Bills lost their quarterback and, emphatically, their first game of the season. Rookie Tim Hightower had a pair of touchdown runs and Kurt Warner threw to Larry Fitzgerald twice for scores to lead the Arizona Cardinals to a 41-17 victory over the Bills on Sunday. Second-year quarterback Trent Edwards, a major reason Buffalo was one of three unbeaten teams entering the day, went down…

Boldin’s 3 TD catches help Cards rout Miami 31-10
Kurt Warner looked like he did in his MVP days, Anquan Boldin certainly wasn’t sulking over contract woes, and Larry Fitzgerald caught almost everything thrown his way. The result was a 31-10 Arizona rout of the Miami Dolphins on Sunday that has the Cardinals 2-0 for the first time in 17 years. Warner completed 19 of 24 for 361 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions.

Fantasy Football Auction Drafting

Fifty! Do I hear fifty-five? Going once, going twice…sold to
the owner in the ten gallon hat!

Nothing can prepare you for the intensity of an auction draft. It’s no
holes barred and not for the faint of fantasy heart. For those of you brave
enough to enter an auction draft, there should be one word that stands out in
your mind: value.

Value is important in all forms of fantasy drafting, but it is has a different
meaning and prevalence in auction leagues. How you spend your cash will separate
your championship team from everyone else’s. Every dollar in an auction
must be monitored. It’s one of the few times that being a Scrooge is considered
a good thing.

Not only must the players you really want be tracked, but every other player
must be kept in check in order to see where each dollar is spent compared to
your projected player values. In other words- you better be counting your pennies,
because there is no credit card to bail you out of an auction draft.

An auction draft is unlike anything you’ll ever experience in fantasy. It’s
incredibly challenging, but it’s also thrilling, consuming, and draining all
wrapped up into four hours of chaos. You can prepare all you want, but you have
to expect the unexpected because one wrong move can easily put your team under
the bus.

Fantasy League Scoring

Every year fantasy football leagues around the country face one of the more
complex challenges today, which is how to come up with a point scoring system
that appeases all of its Owners.

The eternal goal is to find a way to give each position equal value among the
players on a Fantasy roster. They strain with great effort to come up with various
scoring systems that they feel will level the playing field while not catering
to, or overemphasizing certain positions.

The ABC’s of Fantasy Football

With the amount of luck and timing (about one-quarter each)
involved in a Fantasy Football season, where so much depends on the infamous
injury report and a funny shaped pigskin ball, there are only a few things that
Owners can actually control- and most of it has to do with understanding your
league’s scoring system.

Individual Defensive Player Leagues Explained

League Rules | Origin of Fantasy | History of Scoring | Keepers & Salaries | Auction Drafting| IDP Strategies | Fantasy Definitions | Standard Scoring System | Fantasy Football eBook

As fantasy football has grown in popularity, so have variations of the way the game is played. Every year, more and more fantasy enthusiasts try to recreate the action on the field to the game they play at home. Because of this attempt to broaden the depth of the game, Individual Defensive Player (IDP) leagues are becoming more and more prevalent.

IDP leagues are one of the closest reflections to the actual game since participants must draft players on both sides of the ball. The standard for most leagues is for each fantasy owner to carry 2-5 defensive players at any position – with a starting lineup consisting of 3 defensive players per week. Some leagues are so sophisticated in that you must start at least 1 linebacker, 1 defensive back
and 1 defensive lineman, which severely limits which players an owner must carry.
