Condolences have been pouring to the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) player who chose to captain Southampton player Jan Bednarek after the defender ended the player’s game week with – 21 points. Bednarek suffered a disastrous outing at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening in what was a dismal game for the Polish defender

He traveled with the Southampton squad to Manchester and came against a Manchester United side who were in their ultimate best as they thumped the Saints 9-0 in what was a record-equaling win/loss in the history of the Premier League. Southampton suffered an identical loss by the same scoreline of 9-0 against Leicester City at the Saint Mary’s in 2019.

The 24-year-old Poland international defender’s horrific evening started with him scoring an own goal in the first half as the first 45 minutes ended in a 4-0 scoreline with the Red Devils comfortably in full control of the tie.

He would then get himself in a challenge that saw him concede a penalty in the 86th minute of the game and was subsequently sent off after being shown a red card. It was indeed an evening to forget for Bednarek.

While it was also a bad evening for Southampton fans, it was equally one to forget for the FPL players who had Bednarek on their FPL teams. And then there was one person in the entire footballing world who would be feeling gutted about a certain decision he made after choosing to triple captain the defender on his own FPL team. The – 7-point score is now a record set by Bednarek as it is the worst individual FPL score of all time. The previous record (-6) was also set by a Southampton player in the other fixture that the Saints lost 9-0 to Leicester City.
