Manchester United talisman Cristiano Ronaldo has closed the gap on Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane on fantasy football after he found the back of the net against Brentford on Monday. The Portuguese senior national team captain scored the second Manchester United goal on the way to an emphatic 3-0 victory over the Bees.

Ahead of the Brentford game, Ronaldo had a nine-point deficit on Kane in the forward category of fantasy football. It was reduced to just two points after the Portuguese international scored seven fantasy football points against Brentford. His tally of seven fantasy football points against the Bees took the total tally to 158 points. On his part, Spurs star Kane has 160 fantasy football points. Kane and Ronaldo are the top two forwards on the Premier League fantasy football scene this season.

Ronaldo was able to score against the Bees from the spot after he was bundled down by left-back Rico Henry. He made no mistake from the resulting spot kick to double the lead for Manchester United just after the hour mark after Bruno Fernandes had given the Red Devils the lead in the first half. Fernandes scored the opener after nine minutes. French World Cup winner Raphael Varane scored the third Manchester United goal in the last quarter of the game to wrap up the points for his team. It was also his first goal for the Red Devils since his transfer from Real Madrid last summer. Manchester United paid around £34m to secure his signature.

Apart from Ronaldo and Kane, Watford star Emmanuel Dennis has the most points amongst the forwards in fantasy football. The Nigerian player has 132 fantasy football points and one more point than Brentford striker Ivan Toney. Toney has 131 fantasy football points, while Norwich City star TeemuPukki completes the top five with 128 fantasy football points.
